Tesla Malaysia has released a statement confirming that prices for the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y will remain unchanged in 2026, even after the tax exemption for fully imported (CBU) electric vehicles (EVs) had expired on December 31, 2025.

Pricing applies to 2026 new custom-order vehicles

The pricing applies specifically to 2026 new custom-order vehicles, which are built to order at Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory in China based on customer configurations made through Tesla’s official website.


Model 3 and Model Y pricing in Malaysia

Tesla Model 3

  • Available in four variants: rear-wheel drive, long range rear-wheel drive, long range all-wheel drive, performance all-wheel drive
  • Includes the new Long Range RWD, introduced in October 2025
  • Prices start from RM169,000 (on-the-road, before insurance)

Tesla Model Y

  • Offered in two variants: rear-wheel drive, long range all-wheel drive
  • Prices start from RM195,450 (on-the-road, before insurance)

Additional fees for ordering a Tesla

According to Tesla’s website, all of their vehicles will be subject to RM500 delivery and administration fee, RM200 number plate fee, and RM1,000 order fee as of time of writing.


When will you receive your Tesla if you order now?

Orders placed now are expected to be delivered from February 2026 onwards.

Inventory units and discounts

Tesla also sells pre-configured “inventory” and demo units at a discounted price on its website. These vehicles are believed to have entered Malaysia before the December 28, 2025 deadline. Some of the inventory and demo units are available for immediate pick-up at the following locations:

  • Tesla Experience Centre Cyberjaya
  • Tesla Johor Service Centre
  • Tesla Penang Service Centre

Malaysia remains a key market for Tesla

In a statement, Tesla said Malaysia continues to be an important market for the company. It reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing investments and its goal to “accelerate the transition to sustainable energy”.

As part of its expansion efforts, the company has extended its presence to Kuching, Sarawak, with a pop-up display at Vivacity Megamall that opened yesterday.

Tesla also announced plans to further grow its charging infrastructure in Malaysia, with new sites planned for 2026, including:

  • Nexus Bangsar South
  • Quayside Mall

Government agreement and Supercharger targets

Under its agreement with the government through the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry’s BEV Global Leaders initiative, Tesla is required to:

  • Establish at least 50 Superchargers by March 2026 (already achieved with 76 Superchargers)
  • Ensure 30% of these chargers are accessible to non-Tesla EVs (yet to be achieved)
