Background: 9 EV Charging Stations Suddenly Ceased Functioning
The seamless operation of public EV chargers in Malaysia is integral to supporting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. In this intriguing case, a cluster of 9 public chargers simultaneously ceased functioning, sparking widespread online speculation about the quality of installation. Driven by our commitment to excellence, RExharge undertook a site visit to uncover the real cause behind the disruption.
Initial Assessment by RExharge
Contrary to online conjecture, the assessment by RExharge revealed that the disruption was not a result of inadequate installation practices. Instead, a unique external factor was at play – the presence of micro vibration. It may be due to cable cars or parking ramps near the charging site. The micro vibrations generated by the cable cars had caused the termination point within the breakers to become loose over time, leading to arc fault and tripping of the MCCB.
RExharge’s Solution
Armed with a clearer understanding of the issue, the RExharge team embarked on developing an innovative solution. We meticulously replaced the compromised internal components with robust, vibration-resistant counterparts. This proactive approach not only restored the chargers to full functionality but also fortified them against potential future disruptions caused by external factors.
